Backup power

Start with the load, the risk, and the handover.

An inverter or solar decision depends on what must run, for how long, the supply arrangement, installation scope, battery limits, compliance questions, and maintenance. A product name is not a system design.

List the essential loads

Separate lights, refrigeration, network equipment, pumps, heating, cooking, and other loads by priority and run time.

Ask about the installation

Confirm site assessment, wiring, protection, changeover, earthing, monitoring, commissioning, and who is responsible for each part.

Compare the limits

Check battery capacity, surge behaviour, expansion, warranty, exclusions, service response, and what the quote does not include.

Before requesting a quote

  • Record recent electricity use and the loads that cannot be interrupted.
  • Photograph the distribution board and available installation space without exposing personal information.
  • Ask for a written scope, assumptions, equipment model, warranty, and commissioning plan.
  • Use a qualified installer for electrical work and verify the applicable local requirements.
